The Guild of Digital Journalists (GDJ), is set to host Hon. Makanjuola Yahaya Lanre Darosa, a prominent business mogul and politician, at an upcoming event. This event is part of the association's popular GDJ Monthly Interface and will take place tomorrow at the GDJ Secretariat, D&R Garden, Gaa-Akanbi, Ilorin. Hon. Darosa will be sharing insight on leadership, entrepreneurship and politics. Hon. Darosa is a successful entrepreneur and chairman of Darosa Properties Management and Construction Ltd, a company he transformed from his late father's business, Al-Haqq Surveys Limited. The company specializes in real estate, architecture, building construction, property consultancy, and supply of building materials. with operations in Ilorin and Abuja. With 17 years of experience in the real estate business, the company has earned a strong reputation and recognition through various state and national awards, demonstrating their commitment to excellence and quality services. Hon. Darosa's active involvement in politics became prominent during the campaign for the first term of Kwara State's Executive Governor. He was a key figure in the "02 Liberation Movement," a group aligned with the Otoge movement's agenda, mobilizing volunteers across 16 local government areas and wards to support the Governor's election and the movement still exists. Hon. Darosa holds leadership positions in various groups, including chairman of 02 Liberation Movement, secretary of G7, and member of Patriots of Good Legacy Group (PGL), among others. Hon. Darosa has been a dedicated philanthropist from a young age, a trait he inherited from his father. He has consistently added value to people's lives, bringing smiles to their faces through his selfless acts.

The Kwara State Government is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Holiday Edition (2nd Term) of the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Program, which commenced on Monday, April 7, 2025, and ended on Friday, April 25, 2025. On behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mal. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, we commend all our dedicated teachers, instructors, school administrators, and our ever-diligent students who actively participated in this special edition of the program. Your commitment, resilience, and enthusiasm were key to the remarkable success recorded during this session. We are proud of the positive feedback, impressive learning outcomes, and the level of dedication exhibited by everyone involved. These achievements reinforce our commitment to deepening digital literacy and ensuring that our students are equipped with the essential skills needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven world. As earlier promised, appropriate remunerations will be disbursed to schools that participated in the Holiday Edition of the program. Additionally, schools that participated in the Holiday edition will receive a Certificate of Participation and Commendation in recognition of their outstanding involvement and support. We are equally excited to announce that the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Program will continue seamlessly as schools resume for the new term. The official resumption date for the continuation of the program is Monday, May 5, 2025. We deeply appreciate the unwavering support and cooperation of school heads, communities, and all stakeholders whose contributions have been vital to the success and growth of this program. THURSDAY MARKET EXPANDS: ORGANIC VEGGIES, "MADE IN KWARA" RICE NOW AVAILABLE AT SUBSIDIZED RATE

The Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is pleased to announce the expansion of the Thursday Market to include a variety of fresh, organic vegetables, in addition to the already available fish varieties. Residents can now purchase Ewedu (Jute leaves), Soko (Lagos Spinach), Tete (African Spinach), and more, all cultivated at the Ministry of Agriculture using organic methods and available at affordable prices. In addition to vegetables, the Thursday Market now offers essential food staples such as yam, beans, maize, and sorghum—further broadening access to nutritious and locally sourced produce. Notably, these staple crops were generously given back to the Kwara State Government by farmers who benefited from the government's agricultural inputs and empowerment programs. This act of appreciation underscores the success of the state’s ongoing efforts to support farmers and boost food production and security. Announcing the development, the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas, emphasized that the vegetables are 100% organically grown using water and waste from the Ministry's Fish Hatchery. "Green, healthy, and organic Ewedu and Efo will now be available at our Thursday Fish Market," said Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas. "It is also worthy of note that the vegetable farm has produced a high yield even at the peak of the dry season. This further strengthens our advocacy for year-round planting, which is achievable for anyone, as it is cost-effective and sustainable." Additionally, "Made in Kwara" rice is now available at the Thursday Market, sold at a subsidized rate lower than the prevailing market price. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to food security and agricultural sustainability. The Thursday Market continues to grow, offering more affordable, fresh, and locally produced food items to Kwarans while supporting local farmers and promoting sustainable farming practices. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative and shop for fresh fish, organic vegetables, yam, beans, maize, sorghum, and premium-quality Kwara rice.
