A Tourism Visit to the Unilorin Dam - Ilorin, Kwara State

Kwara is blessed with a lots of tourist attraction areas, of which Unilorin Dam is one of them. The Beautiful DAM is located right inside the University premises, before approaching the main university buildings.     The road to the DAM is accompanied with beautiful formation of trees and beautiful nature plants, a place where photographers always explore to get a wonderful shot for their clients. As at the time of visit, the main entrance to the Dam is not a tarred road, but you can easily gain entrance by just following the path available. Sighting the dam at a distance looks so beautiful and exciting, it’s a wonderful combination of nature . The environment is serene and amazing!     How to get to Unilorin Dam From Post office, board a taxi or bus taking you into the University of Ilorin. Alight at the DAM (The DAM is just before the university premises)   https://kwaraconnect.com/register-your-business-on-google/   Entrance to the DAM Entrance fee to the DAM facility cost N100 per head, with the option to go on a canoe ride for an additional N100 naira.     Canoe Ride If you are used to water ways, the canoe might not really freak you, but it’s a wonderful aspect to experience, you can see the dam from the waters, and also checkout the dam waters with a wonderful view. If you are new to taking a ride on a canoe or boat, this is a good chance to break the record, and experience what it feels like to travel by water. However, it is advised to visit the dam with your refreshments as items sold for refreshments are limited.     Please Note: If you visit the dam with your personal bike or car, you can stay till evening to experience sunset. If you came with a cab, bus or drop, it is advisable to leave the dam before it gets too late, unless you have already booked a pick-up ride to convey you home from the dam premises. Sobi hills is the tallest / highest hill located in Ilorin, Kwara State. It’s the highest natural land form from which the entire city of Ilorin can be seen at a glance. It is one of the most visited fun spots, in which people, friends and tourists love to visit when visiting the city of Ilorin . Climbing the hill is absolutely FREE!   Location: It is located along Akerebiata – Sobi road, before Sobi barracks, Ilorin – East local government of Kwara State. https://kwaraconnect.com/oja-oba-the-kings-market-located-in-the-city-of-ilorin-kwara-state/ How to get there: From anywhere in Ilorin, take a Bike or cab going to Post office. From Post office, take a cab / Bike to Kulende Estate Junction. Note: The entrance to the popular sobi hill is not really celebrated (You shouldn’t expect a gate entrance or compound prior to climbing the hill. Climbing the Hill Climbing the hill to the peak top, takes about 45 minutes. You are expected to rest in-between the journey, as you are likely to experience some stress as far as your leg muscles are concerned , it’s a bit tough , just as any mountain climbing should be. Unilorin Zoo : A Visit To The University Of Ilorin

Kwara State is blessed with a lot of tourist attraction areas, of which the University Of Ilorin Zoological Garden is one of them. The Zoo is located just before the University Entrance Gate, at Along University Road, Tanke Oke-odo, Ilorin, Kwara State. History: has it that the zoo was first established as biological garden at the mini-campus of the University in 1975 and upgraded to zoological garden in 1985 to complement the University’s Biological Sciences Departments in teaching and research. A major attraction to the zoo which has continued to draw visitors to the zoo is the 150meters long and 45meters high suspended canopy walkway, which as at the time of visit is not operational due to ongoing maintenance . The forest vegetation and presence of a stream which flows through the zoo creates a serene and very natural environment that makes the zoo so unique. Animals that can be found in the Zoo includes: A Lioness, Leopard, Primates (e,g Monkeys, Baboons , Chimpanzees), Donkeys, Ducks, African Wild Civet Cats, Ostrich, Emu , Vultures, Peacock, Eagles, Mongooses, Horses , Crocodiles, Python Snakes, Hyenas and chickens  . Entree Fee : Entry to the Zoo as at June 2021 cost N500 while discounts applies when you go in a group of 10's .
