Kwara State is blessed with a lot of tourist attraction areas, of which the University Of Ilorin Zoological Garden is one of them.
The Zoo is located just before the University Entrance Gate, at Along University Road, Tanke Oke-odo, Ilorin, Kwara State.
History: has it that the zoo was first established as biological garden at the mini-campus of the University in 1975 and upgraded to zoological garden in 1985 to complement the University’s Biological Sciences Departments in teaching and research.
A major attraction to the zoo which has continued to draw visitors to the zoo is the 150meters long and 45meters high suspended canopy walkway, which as at the time of visit is not operational due to ongoing maintenance .
The forest vegetation and presence of a stream which flows through the zoo creates a serene and very natural environment that makes the zoo so unique.
Animals that can be found in the Zoo includes: A Lioness, Leopard, Primates (e,g Monkeys, Baboons , Chimpanzees), Donkeys, Ducks, African Wild Civet Cats, Ostrich, Emu , Vultures, Peacock, Eagles, Mongooses, Horses , Crocodiles, Python Snakes, Hyenas and chickens .
Entree Fee : Entry to the Zoo as at June 2021 cost N500 while discounts applies when you go in a group of 10's .
